NFHS found that about 11.5 per cent of the total population in AP is reportedly consuming alcohol against the national average of 9.9 percent. Alcohol consumers in Telangana are very high in numbers as it is one of the top consumers in the country. NFHS said that about 24 per cent in the above 15 years population is consuming liquor in Telangana while it is around 19 per cent in Chattisgarh and 16 percent in Odisha. Around 12.27 per cent of the Tamil Nadu population and 13.37 per cent of Puduchery were found to be consuming alcohol.
