CM to initiate grant of dotted lands to farmers across 2.06 lakh acres

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch a programme to grant full rights on 2.06 lakh acres of dotted lands to 97,471 families in Kavali of Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, putting an end to the decades-old problem of farmers.

The value of the 2,06,171 acres in question has been estimated at Rs 20,000 crore.

The issue dated to the British era, when land surveys categorised lands as government land, private land or dotted lands. While farmers have been cultivating these lands for decades, they did not have full rights over the same. Although the lands were in the possession of farmers for years, it was not of much use to them as they could not sell, get loans, mortgage, bequeath as inheritance or give it as a gift.

State government officials said this will add to the list of reforms brought about by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, which has removed 35,000 acres of conditional patta lands from the red list, benefitting 22,000 farmers.

They said that in a first in any part of India, the AP government was undertaking a re-survey of lands after 100 years through the YSR Jagananna Shaswatha Bhu Hakku and Bhu Raksha initiative, so far providing 7,92,238 permanent title deeds to farmers in over 2,000 villages.

Resurvey of lands will be completed in all 17,584 villages and towns of the state by December 2023 in a phased manner, officials said.

About 3 lakh acres of RoFR pattas were already distributed to about 1.28 lakh tribals, with an allotment of at least 2 acres to all poor tribals, by issuing documents in the name of the women of the families.
